Duvu Field Notes: LA Spring Favorites

A curated round up of what's been catching our eye this season.
Something about the longer days makes us want new everything: a different mug, a better smelling morning, a bookstore we've never been inside. Consider this our spring edit, the things we've been stumbling upon and can't stop sharing.
CERAMICS
The Turmeric Times
The patina mug has been living in our heads rent free. Each ceramic piece is handmade and completely its own thing. Chunky, moody, and somehow perfect. This is the kind of ceramic you buy and immediately start planning your morning around.

Slo-Slo Studio
Slo-Slo is a creative studio based in Los Angeles, making ceramic objects and crafting dinner experiences. Just simply scrolling through their website and instagram page will have you rearranging your entire relationship with how you eat at home.

CLOTHING
SUAY
The philosophy is simple: nothing goes to waste. SUAY takes discarded clothing and turns it into something worth owning again, resewn, redyed, and finished right upstairs in their LA studio. The result is pieces that are genuinely individual, in a way fast fashion could never.
Indigo Luna
Relaxed, natural, what the girl in the front row of your yoga class is wearing. Indigo Luna makes pieces that resist being dated. Nontoxic, easy on the planet, and the kind of thing you wear on a slow spring morning and never want to take off.

CAFES
Granada
A MEHKO (micro-enterprise home kitchen operation) turned café that has quietly become one of Echo Park's most beautiful spots. The kind of place where the food actually has a point of view and the room feels like someone's living room because, in the best way, it kind of is.

People Talk Café
The name says it all. A café that seems to understand that the best thing a coffee shop can do is get out of the way and let people actually be with each other. Definitely worth the trip whether you need to get work done or have a good time with friends.

Chainsaw Coffee
A Venezuelan-inspired café on Melrose that started as a garage pop-up and became even better with a permanent address. Cute space, a few stools out front, the kind of place that feels like it belongs to the neighborhood already.

BOOKSTORES
Alias Books East
The kind bookstore where you always discover something you didn't know you were looking for. The selection covers poetry, music, art, and literature, and everything on the shelf feels intentional. An East LA gem.

The Last Bookstore
Tunnels made of books, rooms you didn't expect, a selection that goes on forever. The Last Bookstore is one of those places that always has something new waiting which is reason enough to keep going back. They have multiple locations in LA, each with a unique interior.

Arcana: Books on the Arts
Arcana specializes in photography, fashion, design, architecture, and art that is new, out of print, and rare. The kind of bookstore where you go in for one thing and walk out with the books you’ll read and display forever on your coffee table.

PERFUME
Sage's Rose Eau de Parfum — Tsu Lange Yor
Girly and intoxicating at the same time, Troye Sivan’s fragrance brand has a knack for making scents that turn heads. The handwritten lettering and silver cap make it just as good to look at as it is to wear — the packaging is everything.

Dulce By Rosie Jane
Warm and a little sweet, the kind of scent that gets noticed without trying. By Rosie Jane makes the best everyday fragrances and Dulce is the one you'll reach for all spring. Put it on, forget about it, and wait for the compliments.

HOME
Fan Wall Decor
DIY or Etsy
Saw this on TikTok and immediately wanted to redecorate my room. A single fan, folded and mounted on the wall. It’s the kind of thing that looks like a design decision but costs almost nothing. You can DIY it or find one on Etsy, and either way it completely changes a wall.

Capiz Shell Decor
DIY or Etsy
Another TikTok find that completely took over our fyp. Capiz shells are translucent and catch light in a way that makes any room feel a little dreamy. Hung on a wall or in a window, they're the kind of thing that looks expensive and intentional without really trying.
